about

This collection of songs is the first full-length recording of music that I’ve had the privilege of writing for the local church over the past 10+ years. Some pieces were specifically written for congregational singing while others were intended for special music and personal times of meditation and worship.

The common theme among all the lyrics is the preeminence of Christ and His salvation. There’s a purposeful flow to the album that’s intended to take the listener on a “Christological journey” of sorts, as one gazes at the profound and moving realities of all that their Redeemer is and has done. The music is grand and epic and may stretch the listener a bit at times. I’ve attempted to piece together what might be considered a soundtrack to the story of Redemption – beginning with the pre-incarnation of Jesus and arriving at the resolve of the believer who’s proclaiming His salvation while waiting for “the glorious appearing”. Along the way, we spend time confessing our need of forgiveness and a substitute. We look to the cross where the Lamb of God received the blows and punishment which we, His Church, deserved. And we rejoice that death is conquered and hope is secured because the “Everlasting Amen” has risen from the grave.

I’m particularly grateful to the featured artists and guest musicians who lent their time and talent to this massive project. John Martin (who leads the Resolved Conference band “Enfield”) and Meghan Baird (who sings on the more recent Sovereign Grace Music recordings) were great additions to the vocalists of Grace Immanuel Bible Church. Ayana Haviv also did a tremendous job in connecting me with a number of skilled voices (most of whom are or have been members of the Los Angeles Master Chorale) who added to the power of the opening track, “In the Beginning”. The City of Prague Philharmonic Strings and The Palm Beach Atlantic University Brass gave the pieces the over-the-top beauty and majesty that is fitting for a theme such as ours.

May the Holy Spirit take these feeble efforts and use the truth contained in this music to edify, strengthen, and encourage His Church as we live “soberly, righteously, and godly” in this age.
